..
I did a scan of the Wash.Post article above and it mentioned something I've been suggesting for a long time... volunteer at church with whatever skills you have. I am absolutely convinced that if you show the Lord you love His local church He honors His many promises of provision... One that comes to mind is Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt 6:33.
Another thing to consider is volunteering at church (and keeping a record of it) shows a prospective employer you are a self starter knowing how to 'redeem the times'.

@Rick:
Thanks for your comment.
Your experience can be very frustrating. Rest assured, you're not alone. That may not help much but you'll find that everyone in the workforce has had to cross that threshold--and you will too! Here's a link to a Washington Post article that may help stimulate your thinking.
<a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2003/03/12/AR2005040701044.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2003/03/12/AR2005040701044.html</a>
In the near future I'll be posting a blog on networking tips that you might find helpful too.
Boldly forward!

I had a job interview that I thought I nailed. Got the results back today. Resume looked great but.....no experience. How do I gain experience if no one will give me a chance?

Financial potholes have been formed on nearly every road I've traveled recently. In many cases I've had the jackhammer in hand carving out new ones that need to be avoided, but often can't be. Whether the potholes are unexpected or self inflicted they still have the ability to cause us to crash or make us look at an alternate course. God tells me to "cast my anxieties upon Him BECAUSE He cares for me" and to "deny myself daily, take up my cross and follow Him". There is a lot of value in simply getting up when you face a life filled with potholes and begin to steer around them by staying fixed on the truth of God's Word. It's always assuring to know that the oft-used phrase of "He's in control of all things" is actually biblical and, when lived by, makes the road passable, knowing that there will be a road without any potholes one day!
